This method works after putting the computer to sleep first by tapping the power button then taking it out of sleep. But when I connect my laptop to another monitor through hdmi, it works perfectly fine and displays only on the external monitor. I've tried turning the laptop off and on, resetting windows, went into troubleshooting mode by pressing escape before powering on and tried system restore, reset system ,auto repair, etc (pretty much all the trouble shooting options available minus command prompt) which all failed. It's not a matter with the internal video cord because the ASUS logo still displays itself during bootup. After restarting it, the laptop's screen would simply not turn on (no backlight or anything) after the ASUS startup logo finishes its process. Recently I received a blue screen that promptly shut down my laptop.
